June 2025 Beargrass Media Video Camp

What a fun camp we had. If ayone can’t find a video we made at camp, please communicate with beargrassmedia@gmail.com. Patrick will be on vacation without a computer June 30-July 12, but we can at least be prepared to upload any late content on July 13th.

The 24 Hour Film Challenge began on Thursday after lunch and concluded on Friday at lunch time. Each team randomly drew 2 genres out of a hat, and they had to make their movie as one or both of those genres. The team wrote, cast, recorded, and edited their film during those 24 hours.
There were 3 required elements for each team to use:
Prop: A clothespin
Line of Dialogue: If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen
Character: Erin or Aaron Davenport, Bodyguard

WEDNESDAY 6/25/25
On Wednesday, we covered Film Genres, and we gave each team the exact same script. They were allowed to pick their own genres to make their movies in. Here was their prompt:
Make a 60-90 second video in the genre of your choice. The video must start with a piece of music and at least 5 different shots (at least 10 seconds total) before the voice over starts. The shots and the music should set the tone for the genre you choose.

Everything from below this line is from before camp started
We are less than one week away from camp. We have sent a welcome packet to each of the registered participants. We are also linking the welcome packet below. Please read page 1, look at the map on page 2, and print out and sign pages 3 and 4 and send us a copy to beargrassmedia@gmail.com. For people who do not fill out the forms in advance, we will have some printed forms on the first day of camp.
2025 June HCM Video Camp Welcome Packet

HCM and Beargrass Media will be hosting a one week long video camp June 23-27, 2025 from 9 AM – 4 PM. (There will also be an almost identical camp July 14-18, 2025.)
The camp is targeted for students rising into grades 3 – 8 in the fall of 2025.
The cost is $275 per student
The camp will be at Highland Presbyterian Church – 1011 Cherokee Road Louisville, KY 40204. This is a really nice facility with great indoor and outdoor recording spaces.
