The 24 Hour Film:

We do a challenge on the final 2 days of video camp called the 24 Hour Film Challenge. This was the assigment for July 2026

LINE: “No Ifs, Ands or Buts!”

You will receive 2 genres, and you must make your film in one of the two genres or both.

So much of the content we make is on a fictional TV channel called “The Pepper Channel” The tag line has been around for over 15 years. Here is the latest Pepper Channel Station ID:

On Thursday Morning, we covered sound editing and foley sound. Here is the video we made for that segment

On Wednesday, we began our “Genre Pieces”. We gave each team the same script, and each team made a movie in a different genre using the same script. Here were the prompts:

The movie should start with two or more shots of various types. (Full, medium, close up, over the shoulder, etc.) The soundtrack and color filter should set the tone for the video before the first words are spoken.

ON CAMERA: Okay, let me make something VERY clear.

VOICE OVER : I’ve never had interest in doing anything fun, let alone have I had interest making friends. Yeah it sounds sad and all, but think of how peaceful it is to just be alone! Reading alone, eating alone, walking alone…

ON CAMERA: Until one day, I realized I wasn’t so alone after all.

HCM and Beargrass Media will be hosting a one week long video camp July 13-17 2026 from 9 AM – 4 PM.

The camp is targeted for students rising into grades 3 – 8 in the fall of 2026.

The cost is $300 per student

The camp will be at Highland Presbyterian Church – 1011 Cherokee Road Louisville, KY 40204. This is a really nice facility with great indoor and outdoor recording spaces.

DETAILS:

The students will learn how to write, record, edit, and publish video productions. The students will use personal devices like phones and tablets as well as camp-supplied iPads, video cameras, microphones, a teleprompter, green screen, etc. Students who have participated in one of our video camps before will be put in a group appropriate to their experience and ability.

There is plenty of time to request to be paired up with someone who is already registered or to tell a friend to sign up for the camp to join you. Sooner is better for us, because as the number of students grows, sometimes we pull in additional help for parts of the camp.
