Hawthorne Video Club – Reunión 1
Tuvimos nuestra primera reunión esta mañana con diez estudiantes. Repasamos los conceptos básicos de la grabación de video y luego grabamos 2 cosas cortas que formarán parte del primer episodio de “El Nido” en aproximadamente 3 semanas. Por supuesto, la semana que viene estaremos libres para el Día del Servicio.
PERO… Editamos uno de los sketches para que la gente pueda ver un ejemplo de lo que hacemos. Por favor, disfrute de Truman’s Socks.
Hawthorne Video Club – Meeting 1
We had our first meeting this morning with ten students. We went over the basics of video recording and then recorded 2 short things that wil be a part of the first episodeof “El Nido” in about 3 weeks. Of course, next week, we will be off for the In-Service Day.
BUT…we did edit one of the skits so that people can see an example of what we make. Please enjoy Truman’s Socks.

Beargrass Media has run video clubs at schools and summer camps for over 14 years, BUT since Hawthorne is a full model Spanish Immersion magnet in JCPS, the show we produce will be bilingual in English and Spanish. Segments of the show spoken in English will be subtitled in Spanish, and segments of the show spoken in Spanish will be subtitled in English. Since Hawthorne’s school mascot is the Hawk, we call the show “el nido” (the nest).
Beargrass Media ha dirigido clubes de video en escuelas y campamentos de verano durante más de 14 años, PERO dado que Hawthorne es un modelo completo de imán de inmersión en español en JCPS, el programa que producimos será bilingüe en inglés y español. Los segmentos del programa hablados en inglés estarán subtitulados en español, y los segmentos del programa hablados en español estarán subtitulados en inglés. Dado que la mascota de la escuela de Hawthorne es el halcón, llamamos al espectáculo “el nido”.
We will be offering a BEFORE school video club at Hawthorne Elementary for 10 weeks during the spring 2024 semester. The club will teach students how to record and edit video productions using cameras, tablets, and laptops owned by Beargrass Media. The club will run on Tuesdays from 8:30 AM – 9:30 AM from February 13th through April 30th. (skipping a February 20th Professional Development Day and spring break) The specific dates will be 2/13, 2/27, 3/5, 3/12, 3/19, 3/26, 4/9, 4/16, 4/23, and 4/30.
Ofreceremos un videoclub ANTES de la escuela en la Escuela Primaria Hawthorne durante 10 semanas durante el semestre de primavera de 2024. El club enseñará a los estudiantes cómo grabar y editar producciones de video usando cámaras, tabletas y computadoras portátiles propiedad de Beargrass Media. El club funcionará los martes de 8:30 a.m. a 9:30 a.m. desde el 13 de febrero hasta el 30 de abril. (saltándose el Día de Desarrollo Profesional del 20 de febrero y las vacaciones de primavera) Las fechas específicas serán 13/02, 27/02, 5/03, 12/03, 19/03, 26/03, 9/04, 16/04, 23/04 y 30/04.

Please enjoy the first ever episode of “El Nido”, (The Nest) the video broadcast from the Hawthorne Video Club. This short show is a small taste of things to come. It features a show intro animation, anchor segments, a short skit called “Pick a Card”, a stop-motion animation show ID, and a long outtro. Any time someone speaks in Spanish, we add subtitles in English. Any time someone speaks in English, we add subtitles in Spanish. We look forward to making more of these shows going forward.

The specific dates will be 9/19, 9/26, 10/10, 10/17 10/24, 10/31, 11/14, 11/21, 11/28, and 12/5.
