2024 January Video Camp

2024 January Video Camp – Updated 1/5/2024

We had a day full of practical effects, green screen effects, and special effects.  We encourage them to use effects as a storytelling device, but don’t be surprised if your kids want to make you disappear, cast a laser beam at you, or make a T-Rex run across your living room.

Many things we teach them are free apps and tricks that they can learn how to do.  A few apps we use like 3D Superpowers are ones that cost money.  Sometimes there are free versions, but you can pay to unlock special features.  Please let us know if you have questions about specific apps.
Throughout the day, campers were breaking into small groups and making things on their own, and we were able to capture many of them and put them up as well.

Jon-Mark’s Team was in charge of “The Grand Plan”

Sunny’s Team made this epic piece – (This is the updated version that was in progress when camp was ending)

Frequently Asked Questions

What time is drop off and pick up? On day 1, please make sure to show up by 8:45 so we can check on the large number of campers and begin promptly at 9AM. Pick up is  promptly at 4 PM. If your child will be arriving on foot or bicycle, please notify us so we know they are allowed to do so.

What will we be doing?

We will be recording videos and editing them each day. We’re hoping that after 2 days of intense hands-on learning they’ll have a head start on making their own videos without any outside help, taking a video from  idea to completion. They’ll learn about news broadcasting, film making, podcasting, acting, directing, writing, video and  sound editing and more…

We will begin immediately by recording an already scripted video and learn how to edit that video in the same day.  Throughout the camp the content and the videos themselves will move to be under the kids’ control.  If we have any days with nice weather, we will do some recording outside.
